Days O' Love

If you look at the time this was posted, you'll note that I can't sleep tonight! So let me be the first to wish you all a very happy valentines day. I love you all! I've been thinking about stuff I need to do tomorrow, and that took me down a stroll down memory lane...valentine lane if you will!

So what's your best, or even better, worst valentines day? I have to laugh as I think about Chad and my, shall we say, least succesful valentines day.

Chad had made reservations for us up at The Roof. Cheesy you say? Well, I'm all for gazing off into the eternities while dining on a lovely buffet! Anyway, I got off work late and therefore we were unable to make the reservation. So where do you go on valentines night without a reservation? Well that was the dilemma.

Then Chad had a great idea. He had heard about this great new place that he wanted to try. It was called Wallabys. Yes, Wallabys. Do you all know what Wallabys is? If you don't, let's just say it wouldn't be your dream valentines meal. So we're thinking it's a really nice steak house. Chad said they did catering for really nice events.

Chad calls for directions and for some odd reason he asked what the dress was like there. This is so not a Chad thing to do, and it's not like we ever dress up for dinner anyway. Well, the reply was, "uh, I guess dressy to dressy casual." And the best part about this fabulous new place was that they could get us in right away!!
Wow, we really scored!

So we set off for our fine dining experience and as we pull up, we knew something was amiss! We enter expecting to give the hostess our name, but instead are shuffled immediatley in line to order our food. Someone had seriously misrepresented this place. After we order our hunk of barbecued meat, they hand us our paper plate and paper utensils. And it's not even Chinet, it's the really thin, flimsy kind with the fluted edges.
We just sat down and laughed. The best part was that the dress for this place was "dressy to dressy casual!" It's still something we sit and laugh about. So in that way, it was actually one of the best.

Our best one had to be our first one together before we were married. Chad took me up to see figure skating during the Olympics. It was so amazing!! (There, that was a much shorter story!)

Pump up the jams!

So the past few months, well just 2007 actually, was not a great one for my physique! Therefore, in an unprecidented move, I have decided to get in better shape for the new year. 2008 here I come! So I need all your help. Tell me your favorite songs for working out. You know the ones that come on and gives you that push to work harder? I need some new ones. And if there are any blog hoppers out there, please contribute as well! I want all I can get. So everyone think so you can help me bust a move while I'm slimming down!

Potty Days

So here is Josh and his teddy modeling the latest addition to his wardrobe...BIG BOY UNDERWEAR! I have to say I truly never thought this day would come. After Christmas I decided enough was enough and it was time to potty train this kid. He would say, "Mommy, is it time to ride the potty train?" I think he was a little disapointed when the potty train turned out to be the toilet.
So I camped out with him in the bathroom for a day, pumping him full of fluids so that he'd have to go. I have to say, this was a pretty frustrating day! He just wasn't getting it and he was having accidents. I was thinking maybe he wasn't ready, but then by the end of the day he was telling me when he had to go!
So he had the pee thing pretty much down by day 2, but the much larger battle was ahead of me....that's right, poop!
If I thought day one was frustrating then I had no idea. Josh pretty much had been holding his poop in for a day because he was scared to do it. I was doing all I could as far as bribing him, but then he starting screaming at me, "No, I don't want treats! I don't want treats!" So then I pulled out the big guns. I found a toy horse catalog that came with one of the horses he got for Christmas and told him to come sit on the potty, poop and pick out the horse he wanted for his prize. This got him pretty excited, but shockingly, not enough to go through with it. Finally, it got so bad, and so comical actually, that he was running around in circles holding his bottom, jumping up and down and hopping from one foot to the other because he had to go so badly. He screamed, "Mom, if I poop I won't have a body!" Well no wonder he was scared! This literally seemed like a life or death decision for him! Anyway, in the end he sat on the potty and picked out the horse he wanted (which just arrived today, Bayberry is his name!), and finally went #2!
I wish I could say that was the end of the drama, but everytime it was time to poop we were faced with a lot of screaming and a lot of running around and hopping on one foot. But one week later, I am happy to say that it looks like Josh is pretty much potty trained! HOORAY!!! Oh and let me tell you I have been peed on more times then anyone should and in an unfortunate turn of events, I knelt in poop! Other than that, it wasn't too bad. So I am officially done with diapers! (For now I guess...that's kind of depressing!)

Halloween Days

Happy Halloween! Today was a fun day filled with candy, candy and lots more candy! Currently we are enjoying Josh on his sugar high! We let him come home and eat tons of his candy. You can see above how he layed down on the ground to study his candy, deciding which would be the right selection for his next munching pleasure (you can also see in one of the pictures the amount of candy he took at each house!) We went over to grandmas Louise's for some trick or treating in Provo, then finished the night in Springville where Josh was scared to death by someone's house with a smoke machine and a decapitated monster. He put his hands over his eyes and tried to run away! Joshy loved being a cowboy riding his horse named Bullseye. Anyway I wanted to get these pics out fast for grandparents and family. Pumpkin Days

Wow, I know another post...I'm really cookin! So here is our little rendezvous to the pumpkin patch. My new calling in our ward is midweek activities leader and this was my first activity to plan. I had never been to a pumpkin patch before and it was really fun. Josh was looking for horses everywhere, of course, and also insisting that the squashes we saw were giant bananas for the horses to eat. Sure Joshy, whatever you say! Then we headed back to the church and painted the pumpkins. As you can imagine when I asked Josh what he was painting on his he said, "horsies and maybe a little baby zebra". Do I have a crazy child....yes! But I love it that way!

So I'm back!! Sorry it's been so long but we are having computer difficulties. It is still doing weird things which is why I couldn't write captions under the pictures. I have a feeling there is an easy way to fix the problem, but Chad and I are a little technologically challenged!
So let me tell you what these pictures are of! They start most recent back to Labor Day weekend.
The first are of FHE tonight when we carved a pumpkin. Chad and JOsh are making scary faces like the pumpkin.
Then the Children's museum in SLC where the famous life flight picture was taken. NO there was no family emergency, they had a life sized helicopter the kids can play in.
Next Josh and Chad with their fly swatters. There were a few weeks when it seemed that we had a zillion flies in our house and Josh loved trying to kill them! They are making tough faces.
Then on to the UCLA Utah game, actually a pretty rotten experience but we got some cute pictures before the game! I'm with Chad's mom Annie and sister Holly in our #7 jersys.
Then Josh's latest obsession (along with horses) putting any sort of material on his head and pretending it's hair. Sometimes he brushes it, the other day he asked my to blow dry it.
Next Chad and Joshy playing football on a picnic we had one night.
Lastly comes labor day weekend. We went to the zoo- heaven for Josh and Chad actually! He is holding his lion he named Alex from the giftshop. Then we went to the first BYU game with Grandpa Cole. Josh was yelling "Go bruins!" the whole time- he thinks every football game is UCLA and uncle Ben.

So that is a little whirlwind tour of what we have been up to the past few months. We also had some family pictures taken.
